13th Annual Blues Challenge Applications will be available beginning November 27, 2016

Dear Blues Family,

The Blues Society of Western PA, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve and promote the blues genre of music, is thrilled once more to announce :

13th annual Blues Challenge

The date: Saturday, April 29, 2017

The place: The Cornerstone at Tonidale

7001 Steubenville Pike, Oakdale, PA 15071

Starting time: 1 pm

An after party will be held at the Pub at Tonidale following the last act.

APPLICATIONS to enter the 13th Annual Blues Society of Western PA’s (BSWPA) Blues Challenge:

Applications will be available online beginning at noon, Sunday, November 27, 2016.

The deadline is in February. However, the slots fill fast. Register early to secure your slot.

The fee to enter is $50.

Please note: The Blues Society of Western PA observes the judging format and requirements established by the Blues Foundation when hosting their blues challenge.

Only 14 slots will be available. Each act will be asked to give their best twenty minute or less set. A short change over between acts will be observed.

A back line will be provided.

Two categories are available.

1. Solo/Duo acts…one or two performers.

2. Bands…three or more performers in the act.

The criteria as determined by the Blues Foundation:

1. Blues Content

2. Instrumental Talent

3. Vocal Talent

4. Originality

5. Stage Presence.

Please note: The BSWPA reserves the right to refuse an application.

This is always a stellar, well attended event to showcase the talent that resides in Western PA. Every year, the amazing talent that accepts the BSWPA’s talent is unbelievable!!!!
