Since 1976, Calliope has been a nonprofit educational and presenting organization that promotes and preserves traditional and contemporary folk music and its allied arts. Calliope programs are unique to western Pennsylvania. Calliope House offers concerts by a wide variety of nationally and internationally recognized folk musicians in both their Oakland and Shadyside locations. Calliope also hosts a school of folk music, offering instruction and hosting jams in many folk styles and instruments.
