Fruteland Jackson Concert-All about the Blues - Tuesday, February 24 - Three-time nominee for Best Blues Artist/Album, Fruteland Jackson has also been awarded the "Keeping the Blues Alive Award" by the Blues Foundation for his Blues-in-the-Schools program. His educational program reaches over 50,000 students and adults annually. Fruteland plans to reach his one millionth listener while on his 2009 Northeast Tour this spring that includes concerts and presentations in Canada, northern New York, western Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. - © Photos by Jonnye Weber |

BLUES IS A HEALER TOUR - BSWPA ENTERTAINS AREA’S VETERANS - A plan to show appreciation to our local veterans began to formulate on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2007. It was met with overwhelming support by the Society and by the local Blues musicians. The first stop on the tour, December 23, took our traveling assortment of players, fans, well-wishers, volunteers, and family members to the Highland Drive VA Medical Center. >> Read More |

This year (2007) October brings the International Blues Challenge (IBC) into town. The judges have quite a task on their hands! Some of the finest acts ever to grace the stage in the tri-state area are lined up for the showdown! Amy's Army is a dedicated group of volunteers who are looking for a matching stem cell (marrow) donor for Amy. We organize marrow drives in Pittsburgh and across the country to help Amy & thousands like her seeking their life-saving match. Amy's Army has added more than 7,000 new names to the marrow registry, and found 13 matches for other patients, but none for Amy.
