7th Annual "Pitts-burrrrrgh" Drowned Hogs Swim

POSTPONED - "Late last week, Pittsburgh River Rescue called to warn us of unsafe river conditions and advised us to postpone the Drowned Hogs Swim planned for last Saturday. The event has been rescheduled for this coming SATURDAY FEBRUARY 4th, same time, same place! - Circle C"

The 7th Annual "PITTS-BURRRRRGH" DROWNED HOGS SWIM is coming fast! Here's your invitation to join Circle C on SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th at the 18th Street Boat Ramp in the South Side to take a quick dip in the Mon River to help Circle C's kids.

It's an 11:00 AM arrival for fun, food, and warm-ups, and our usual 12 Noon countdown to the plunge! Special thanks to Starbucks on Carson and Bettermaid Donuts for helping to keep us warm by the river's edge and Kahuna Balloona for helping to dress up the festivities!

Cicle C is thrilled to welcome back a great Pittsburgh blues duo - Miss Freddye and Mike Houston for the "HOG THAW JAM" after the plunge at the INN-TERMISSION LOUNGE at 1908 E. Carson Street . We'll have door prizes (gift cards and signed Penguins merchandise!), and the best hot chili in the city, compliments of Piper's Pub!

2012 BSWPA Blues and Blues Youth Challenge

BSWPA Blues Challenge - April 14, 2012

ENTRIES FOR THE BSWPA BLUES CHALLENGE ARE NOW CLOSED. WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING ENTRIES FOR THE WAITING LIST. IF YOU SIGN UP FOR THE WAITING LIST AND YOU ARE NOT CALLED, WE WILL REFUND YOUR MONEY.

The Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania has the pleasure to announce that their 8th Annual Blues Challenge Finals will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Clarion, 401 Holiday Inn Drive, in the Greentree area of Pittsburgh, PA 15220 (412-922-8100). Why set a date this early, you ask? With respect to our participants, we have set a date far enough in advance so that each band can plan their schedules around that date.

The 2012 Blues Competition will be a one day event. There will be a category for bands and a category for solo/duo acts. There will be one winning band entry and on winning solo/duo entry as determined by a panel of judges. The winners of the competition will represent the BSWPA in Memphis in early 2013. Application fee $45.00

BSWPA Blues YOUTH Challenge - March 11, 2012

Calling all youth blues players...and hoping you will accept our challenge to enter the Blues Society of Western PA's Youth Blues Challenge.

The winner will represent the BSWPA at the 2013 International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis, TN. - Application fee $10.00

Maintain your Google Calendar and share it with us:
- Log into their Google calendar. Click on the Gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Select "Calendar Settings" from the drop down menu. The page that opens up will have four headings. Select the one marked "Calendars". There should be at least one calendar listed. To the right of the calendar should be a link:"Shared: Edit settings" Click that link. The page that opens should have three headings. Select "Calendar Details" Look for the ICAL button. Click on that and copy the link in the dialog box that opens. Paste this link in an email and send to events@bswpa.org
Send emails to events@bswpa.org in the following format:
Band Name, Date, Start Time-End Time, Venue Name, Exact Venue Address and Phone Number.

WHY CREATE YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR? - As you are maintaining your Google calendar, you can share that with your fans, and once you send the link to us as instructed, you will automatically share events with the BSWPA calendar. No more emails to us and your events will be posted as soon as we see them posted on your calendar.
